Dr. Lei Hilldale is
Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital's new oncology duckling. She is young, only
twenty-four, but was hailed as a prodigy at a very young age. An orphan
since she was seven, Lei was raised by an assortment of nannies and her
late parents' estate manager. She went to John Hopkins for both
under-grad and med school and was valedictorian every year.

Lei is a
happy person, on the surface. To patients and colleagues she is helpful,
caring and considerate. Internally, she is more troubled than anything
else. She constantly worries about what people really think of her. She
is half Hawaiian and half Caucasian, so growing up in Hawaii was a
challenge, as she was ostracized by both groups.

That strengthened
her resolve to be the best in everything she attempted and also made her
a seasoned fighter. She has battled against ageism for most of her
life, as she entered college at sixteen years old. Before coming to PPTH,
Lei worked at Wilcox Memorial Hospital in Kauai, Hawaii.

She has
had no personal relationships to speak of, and very few friends, as she
has always been so much younger than her peers. Thusly, she is hesitant
in any outward signs of friendship, and is likely to make someone work
for her kindness.
